About Cows:

1. What are the  5 most common pathologies of cows?

Bluetongue (BTV):The disease is characterised by fever, widespread haemorrhages of the oral and nasal tissue, excessive salivation, and nasal discharge. The virus cannot be transmitted between susceptible animals without the presence of the insect carriers.

Acetonaemia (Ketosis): Ketosis is a metabolic disorder that occurs in cattle when energy demands (e.g. high milk production) exceed energy intake and result in a negative energy balance. Symptoms are reduce milk yield, weight loss, reduced apetite, amount others.
Brucellosis: Disease that occurs from contact with animals carrying Brucella bacteria, Symptoms are abortion, stillborn, weak calf born, retention of fetal membranes, amount others. Also no treatment is available, which makes detection and prevention essential.


Mastitis: I
s the inflammation of the mammary gland and udder tissue. It usually occurs as an immune response to bacterial invasion of the teat canal by variety of bacterial sources present on the farm .
Bovine Viral Diarhoea (BVD):
 
BVD is a common cause of respiratory and reproductive issues in the herd. In adults, clinical signs are highly variable. Signs of acute infection include fever, lethargy, loss of appetite, ocular dishcharge, nasal dischargem oral lesions, diarrhea and decreasing milk production. Once identified, infected animals should be culled.

I choose pigs so I choose this website because is very entertaining, interative and all the information necesary for had a good management and knowledge about pigs is there. I know is for kids but I think that works for all kind of age and National Geografic is a reliable source.
